Raleigh Fine Artist – “Children” Watercolor Painting

I love sketching my son Ian when he plays with his friends. For one, it is a challenge! Kids are always in motion! You really have to sketch quickly. I thought about making this painting months ago. But, could not figure out the best composition. I made several sketches, but, just could not bring myself to work on the painting. Then one day, Ian kept playing and I kept sketching! I sketched all the figures you see in this painting. Of course, I had to compose the painting. Ian and his friend Charlotte are in the foreground. Their favorite thing is playing on the grass. Come rain or shine! Kids are just awesome. So innocent and full of life.

I am preparing to paint live this weekend in Flat Rock, NC. It will be a live watercolor painting of a wedding reception. So, this is good practice! I will also be working on a wedding painting commission in my studio. And then I will be working on oils as well.
