I finally had the opportunity to photograph my latest paintings of 2011. Although I haven’t counted the number of paintings, I believe I have painted more in 2011. Many plein air paintings, sketches, live wedding and event paintings, portrait commissions and paintings done in the studio. I continued to paint in both oils and watercolors. And the more I paint, the more I understand the importance of good drawing skills. So, I hope to draw more in 2012.
I love painting from life, but, I also do many paintings in my studio. Here are my latest studio pieces. Both originals and prints are available.
This is a plein air watercolor of Raleigh’s new Nature Research Center. The new wing of Museum of Natural Sciences is interesting from both outside and inside. I painted this on location on a Sunday afternoon. I often paint scenes of Raleigh Downtown. I am currently working on a commission to do a large-scale painting…
I had the honor to paint LIVE for the Durham Convention and Visitors Bureau for an event that they sponsored for MPI Carolinas Chapter at The Durham Hotel earlier this month. I love corporate painting opportunities as much as painting at weddings ~ its such a different view, different feel, but in the end the…
Few months ago, Mica and I had visited Burleigh Plantation in Semora NC. I was fascinated by this place. Many photo and painting possibilities. Few days ago, I did a gouache painting of the plantation quilts on a line. I have entered that painting into Jerry’s Artarama‘s Turner Gouache contest and hope it will win!…
I love painting cityscapes as much as I love painting landscapes and seascapes. I have painted Raleigh both en plain air and also in my studio. This is a small sketch I had down awhile ago. The downtown was decorated for holidays. And I loved the evening light. I always have my sketching supplies with…
I had visited Myrtle Beach, South Carolina earlier this year. I made several plein air paintings and sketches while I was there. Above painting is a recent studio painting. The painting captures one of the stormy days of my stay at the North Myrtle Beach. Unlike my previous paintings (which are posted on this blog…
Here is a live event painting I had done at Charlotte NACE’s “My Big Fat Indian Wedding”: I frequently travel to Charlotte for photography assignments. This year I have photographed corporate events in Charlotte and also photographed an Indian wedding in Rock Hill SC (right outside of Charlotte). And I will be back in Charlotte…
